Creating a visual impact is a very important part to making a promotional video succesful. I am going to concentrate and gather inspiration from an Apple Keynote, held by Steve Jobs; former CEO of Apple, Inc.
Type
I think that any text that we include in the promotional video should be used with caution. Too many word could confuse and daze a viewer, where the same effect could happen if too little text is displayed and the viewer doesn't know much about the topic that is on screen.
High resolution images
If we use any pixelated images or images that are out of proportion will just make us look ameteur. We want to create this to a professional standard and to make the video a success.
Avoid Emotion
We don't really want or need to spark opinion in our video. It should please everybody and make people informed and inspired by the works of the Science Department at Park Hall Academy. If we give any other effect then our video will not be a success.
Minimal
We should make our video accesible and we can do this by keeping it minimal. The idea for the video is it will be shown at various events and should require absolutely no explanation at the end or at intervals whilst the video is being played. The group will be leaving Park Hall Academy August 2012 and we want the video to be usable for atleast another ten years, maybe longer if we do really well! Whilst showing more could explain a lot about the Science Department there is a chance that we may need to explain some aspects of the promo video, this should not happen.
A tailored, creative video
The video should not use any images that are not ours and we should keep to a house theme. This should represent the Science Department well and it shouldn't be cheesy or tacky. Everything about this video should be created in High Quality.
